You can spellcheck your post by writing it first in a programme such as 'Word' or other word processor software..... and then copy and paste it to this forum's post message box.

1 Write your post in Word

2 Hold down and left click to highlight all the text

3 Right click to bring up drop down list

4 Left click copy.

5 Sign in and bring up post message box

6 Right click within box to bring up drop down list

7 Select paste.

Beware of the software changing your words without you noticing though!

e.g. I recently wrote hydroscopic which was changed to hygroscope....and I didn't notice.

I hate spellcheck and predictive texts, mainly because they never do what I want.

Public became pub*c!

I use Firefox which automatically spell checks posts by underlining in red. A right click gives alternative spellings.

I'd just like to point out however that perfect spelling or grammar are not an absolute requirement on this forum.

A spell checker is not much use to a person who may be dyslexic and nobody should be afraid to post or intimidated, all are welcome here.

Very dyslexic contributors may find spellchecking of little use. If you are very dyslexic then you don't know which version is the right one. My very very dyslexic son spellchecked a letter, aiming for Dear Sir or Madam. He got, Dear Sir or Madmen.

Below is what prompted my posting of this topic.

Quote from a prominent Forum Member on November 29th

"The biggest problem we have now is that the forum has no spell-check facility"

My wife is dyslexic.

Thanks for your post Bill, the reason for my comment was because someone (not you) was criticising spelling etc the other day and I'd hate to think that anybody would hesitate to ask a question because they were intimidated or wary of adverse comment.

Your information is valuable and I didn't mean to seem ungrateful.
