Split Air Con and weight on a window

Hey Guys,

After a few brutal days in British heat last year, I've purchased a split air con unit. This is the Mestic 3100, in total it weighs 19kg.

I know this won't provide ice cold air, but anything that can at least bring the caravan down to a more manageable temperature is better than nothing. My caravan is a 2015 Bailey Unicorn 2 berth. I plan on putting the air con on the front central window, so the interior part can sit on the table top, but the external part (which is the weightier section) will be hung from it's brackets on the window.

There is the option to also hang it from one of the windows over either sofa, but this might be a bit annoying for seating space and also not blow down the length of the caravan.

My query is whether this unit is too heavy for the window, or if there is an internal frame around there that will easily support the weight?

I don’t think it will be too heavy but the outside unit may be tipping backwards at the angle of the caravan front, which may be detrimental. However. I do know that someone sat theirs on the ‘A’ frame. This did mean making a simple stand for it. I have seen pictures, but I cannot find them now. If I do, I will add them.

I think Mr Plodd has one, he may advise.

I did find a picture of that when I did a google search, and went outside to look at my A Frame, but it may be a bit small to make something like that for the height it would need to reach. It's a shame they don't give you the option of, or pre fit, longer hoses between the units.

I haven't got the brackets yet, as I need ones that fit over the Bailey upwards blinds, but I was going to have a cloth or something behind the brackets to prevent any scratches or cosmetic damage, it's mainly the weight and if that would break my window or put a lovely air con shaped dent into the side wall

Sounds a useful idea. I found this picture of the internal unit but it didn’t show the external unit.

That's the unit, it only tells me 19kg in total, but that's for both sides. I can only assume the external is about 12kg which will be hung from the window, the internal unit can sit on a worktop I have there
