Havent been to this site, but if you want the St Ives area Polmanter touring park is superb. We went for a week last August and have booked for two weeks this August. We did pop into another site called Little Tregarrick (i think) but it wasn't as nice as Polmanter. Denise

Went there 2 years ago with our tent and thought the site was great. Good facilities and easy access.

Book with confidence!!!

I visit that area a lot and walk near the site regularly - I suggest that if you download google earth you can zoom in to a fairly detailed view of the site. Between Hayle and Gwithian look for a place called loggans the site is just to the right, next to the beach. It will be very very busy in August but then so is everywhere in cornwall at that time of year. As you will see there are a lot of statics, it never gives me the impression that there are a lot of tourer pitches but I might be wrong. On polmanter that is the other side of the bay which unfortunately doesn't yet have a detailed satelite picture yet, I haven't been there but may go there before the rush starts i.e. pre school hols. There are lots of other sites in the area, google earth will let you have birds eye look. There's a caravan club site at Gwithian depends what you want. One thing about the area is that there is plenty of choice!!! by the way if you're looking at the site and wonder what the grassy squares are to the east it's part of an old dynamite factory long since shut down.

Hi

We went there in July 2005. I would pay that little bit extra for a super pitch well worth it. Facilities good, swimming pool was a hit with my two children, however dont know what it will be like in August. Right on the beach so dont need to drive to get there.

Site has a couple of club houses and provides entertainment for kids and adults also has a takeaway on site if you dont fancy cooking.

Lovely pasty shop in Hayle.

Hope that has helped

Hi

we were at St Ives Bay in september last year, its a good site there are plenty of toilet/shower blocks around and they are very clean. the pool is ok and there is a games room/conservatory area with lots of free games. The club was closed when we went but we used the bar which to be fair was on the slightly expensive side however there are pubs in hayle and you can walk along the cliff to the smugglers pub owned by haven holidays. at the bottom of the hill leading to the site is a Lidl supermarket and there is a coop in hayle as well.

however the best bit of this site is the beach it is in my opinion one of the best beaches in cornwall the site is right on it with easy access i would ask for a sea view pitch if i were you.

Hi - Went to St Ives Holiday Park last year - there are definately two sides to it:

The plus side is the location - you can walk through the holiday park to the beach which is beautiful and sandy. It has evening entertainment for the kids, usual stuff like kiddies disco etc. And for those that like that kind of stuff, it had a clubhouse that put on intertainment, bingo etc. It is a very large site and does have some good outside pay areas for kids, particularly down near the beach.

Unfortunately from our perspective it was more bad than good. The facilities were dirty and didn't seem to be cleaned often enough, the pool down near the beach was very cloudy and there were no changing rooms - which took us quite by surprise at the time as there is nothing to indicate that you can't get changed anywhere.

The clubhouse was very smokey and very busy. There was a lot of noise until late in the evening and all in all, not what we would consider a quality site.

There is a caravan club site just down the road called Godrevy which is excellent if you want something cleaner and quieter, but it doesn't have a pool or clubhouse - personally something that we can live without.

On the plus side, if you are fortunate with the weather then I guess you will spend most of your time down on the beach. The beach is excellent and from memory goes from St Ives right through to Godrevy lighthouse.

I've just this afternoon walked through the site and they are doing a lot of work - for tourers they have put in some new hard stands in some areas and the whole place seems to be given a coat of paint. It's a big site as you will see on google earth but from the look of it there are maybe more statics in now. It's not my cup of tea tooooooo big but it is right on the beach and today it was lovely down there, cloudless sky and warm enough to walk with no coat on (or hat). If you're going school holiday time it will be heaving with people obviously.
