stabiliser problem

I have an alko 3004 stabiliser as supplied with the caravan. When we went away last week i noticed the handle was in the 'off' position after arriving on site and when going home, noticed it seemed to come off even after going a few yards down the road, any suggestions as to whats wrong would be appreciated.

Hi Michael

Make sure you put it down before driving off!

But seriously I have done it before, thinking I have put it down and when arriving on site found it is not and on the journey there said to my wife 'this has towed the best ever yet'. makes you wonder!

I know what u mean but i have double checked it's been applied however this is the first time i've used this type of stabiliser so i thought it was something i'd done wrong!!I assume you push the handle down as far as you can to apply the stabiliser and that's it, maybe someone can enlighten me if that's not so!!!

Michael,

Are you sure that you're pushing the handle down far enough?

if you only push it down until you feel resistance, thats not far enough you have to push it through this resistance until the handle is in the same position as it is when pushed down & not hitched up, otherwise it won't lock into position, & could well be the cause of finding it in the "off" position.

George

That maybe the problem because I didn't want to push down too hard I only pushed until it felt 'tight'. I'll try it again next w/end on our next outing,

Cheers
