I am buying a new caravan (Barrons Firestorm) and it comes complete with Winterhoff coupling, do I need a secondary stabiliser or not? The salesman said I do not need one but further advice will be much appreciated, I have towed with a bulldog stabiliser for years and had no problems

i wouldn't recommend using a blade type stabaliser,as well as the hitch type,i would think they would possibly work against each other

you need only one

If the caravan already has a Winterhoff (or Alko) as standard DO NOT add a blade type stabiliser as you will be imposing higher forces into the towbar than the towbar (or, for that matter, the vehicle underbody) were ever designed for. Prolonged use can result in fatigue failure and invalidate the vehicle warranty.
