Can anyone reccommend a drive away awning to fit a van/camper with awning rail 2 metres high? Most importantly, it MUST be easy and quick to erect. Also, light but strong. About 2.5M X 2.5m. Many makers claim quick erect properties, but demos prove the opposite! I'm looking for advice from someone who actually has what I'm looking for.

Hi,
I dont know if this is suitable for your needs, (im a bit 'new'!) but I saw this in September's edition of 'Go Caravan' magazine:
http://www.outdoor-revolution-awnings.co.uk/Quick-Erect-Lightweight-Caravan-Awnings-by-Outdoor-Revolution-Awnings/Outdoor-Revolution-Spacelite-Caravan-Awning
If the link doesnt work, its called the Space-Lite by Outdoor Revolution. It really took my fancy to be honest, and the review was good. Headline was "This awning weighs only 10kg, its quick to dry and a dream to build. Best of all, it stays attached to the caravan as your towing"
The link above doesnt do it justice, based on the pictures, unfortunately I cant seem to find an online copy, and i doubt its permissable with copyright etc to scan in!
Hope this can be of help.

Thanks for that - what a clever idea! Unfortunately, it's not quite right for me as I am looking for something that can be attached to the van but, crucially, can also stand alone. A bit like the old frame tent. The reason for this is that the traditional awning set up means that its position on the pitch is dictated by the position of the van. Often I find that I would prefer the awning to be somewhere else on the pitch - either to maximise the pitch space available, or, when I am long terming in Spain during the winter, to maximise exposure to the sun. But thanks again for the thought.

Thats ok, but sorry its not what you are looking for. To be honest, I think im probably just a little excited by the fact that I found somthing that I might buy, and therefore took any excuse to tell someone!
Cheers.

try looking at the Quest Dome
1. it can be used as a Gazebo
2. It can beused as a tent
3. It can be used as an awning for motor home or caravan depending on the connection kit you purchase
It has a built in flooring hence it can be used as a stand alone tent.
The only problem is I bought one and they have recalled them because of minor faults and will not be bringing them back to market until 2012. However if you can wait it sounds just like what you are looking for.
I do have pictures of mine before I sent it back after the recall

Thanks for the advice -sounds good, but I need to buy before the annual 'winter pilgrimage' to Spain. I've seen an ad for an 'RV Room M250' from Riversway Leisure. Tried to call the to ask a question before buying but Can't access their 0844 tel no from France and no other number is available. Sent them an e-mail but it has gone unanswered! I guess they don't want my business!
