Stand pipe height?

I saw a chap at my last campsite fill his water carrier with a piece of rigid tube about 2.5in dia that went into his carrier and over the tap with a piece of elatic to hold it against the tap. I wish to make one but don't know how long it should be. Has anyone any idea or what the average height of a drinking water stand pipe is?

Hi Greg, I made myself one of these, not sure how long it is as it's in the van, would think about two and a half to three feet. Better to be a bit longer, as the excess will just disappear into the aquaroll, too short and you're bound to come across a high tap and it won't reach.

I used domestic waste pipe, a jubilee clip, and a bungee. Have since improved it slightly by using thinner/flatter elastic instead of the bungee, as the jubilee clip tightens better against it.

I think I got the length of waste pipe from Wilkinsons for a couple of quid, about 8 or 9 feet long, so you can afford to experiment and try a couple.

Best regards, Jim.

I made mine using 2 pieces of pipe of different diameter. The top pipe slides into the bottom one making the length telescopic.

The elasticated draw cord from an old anorak was fitted to the top for connection to the tap.

Works great.

take a 2L coke bottle, cut off the bottom , and use it as a funnel. The neck of the coke bottle is a perfect fit in the aquaroll.

No more wet feet, no more hoses that slip off taps, and if the tap is low you just trim the bottle to length.
