Status 315 aerial

My 'van came with a Status 315 aerial, I have tried using it in various locations but can never get an acceptable signal. Anyone have any ideas?

The 315 is never going to be as good as a directional aerial but it should work well in more places than when it's poor.

It first relies on it's signal booster, so check your getting a better signal with that switched on than when it's off.

The most common reason for bad overall performance is all the various cable connections between aerial, booster, socket on wall and fly lead to tele.

Check and remaking all these perfectly can make a massive difference, recently the moulded fly lead to mine was faulty and killed my picture nearly dead?!

Working correctly with a decent signal, I got all Freeview channels we wanted to watch on my 315 bar Film4, and CH5 was often poor if it was raining!

With the new 530 installed I've got Film4 and there does seem more depth of colour to the picture on all channels, however that might be me justifying the cost? LOL

I use to have my 315 mounted above the caravan on a pole.

Unfortunately on sites we regularly visit, we encountered a reduction in signal.

Apparently according to the site regulars, the local analogue signal had been reduced, presumably to push people onto digital?

But also the digital signal wasn't yet up to full power.

Consequently the statics had all been and bought high gain aerials. So frustrated by varying quality, which the weather or a different pitch, was throwing up, i now have a high gain ariel on the pole, this has sorted the problem.

The ariel i have is only about 2' long(wide band) and has a mast head amp, the short length makes it good in the wind.
