Status Fitted Directional Ariels

I think the general consensus is that the Omni-directional is only usable in strong signal areas, where there is little or no interfering signals (multi-path, reflections, etc.)

A directional aerial will always be better at capturing more signal and ignoring interference from other directions, but of course the directional needs to be aligned with the transmitter.

How much better? Depends on the model you upgrade with, the sensitivity of your TV, etc.

I agree with Rob_jax. I have been on 2 sites recently Uttoxeter Race course and Stroud Hill Camb's both have very poor signals. My S315 aerial was useless just a black and white snowy picture.

I have just bought an Image 530/18-2 directional aerial which I used at Stroud Hill. I mounted it on a 3.5 meter mast and the picture was very acceptable on all channels. The cost
 
I found the Status omni directional "mushroom" to be pretty useless except in areas of strong signal. I had a Status 530 directional ariel fitted in its place. It cost about

I have found all the comments helpful and have bought the replacement Status 530 directional short mast. My van is a conquerer 630 and the revised version for next year has a directional status 530 coming into the van in the wardrobe. I will be aiming to fit the replacement ariel on the same side as the current status omnidirectional and infact in the same spot. I will do this myself but should I fit a blanking plate before drilling the 40mm hole in the centre of the blanknig plate. Or should I save the
