Steeo poles or Aluminum

Hi We are about to purchase a porch awning and the frame is steel with the option to pay a little more for the alu frame. The weight is not an issue as we are used to taking a full awning which is a lot heavier. Is there any other reason to choose the alu frame apart from it being lighter. Thanks Denise

The lighter the pole, the smaller the dent in the caravan should one swing down and hit the side like mine did. I wish I'd have had aluminium poles at the time. Good Luck, Dan.

Thanks for the replies. We don't use the caravan in winter, but in May up at North Devon we experienced rough winter weather, so maybe the steel poles are best. Denise

I'll never have aluminium again, particularly if there's an extra cost. They are lighter than steel but bend easily and can't be straightened.

Stick to steel or fibre.
