Storing kit in caravan

Whatever you store in your van, make sure you are insured for it. I store my van in secure storage and leave most things in, but I leave the awning at home, as it is probably the most valuable single accessory in the van.

If you add up the cost of all the things you have in the van it is quite a lot of moneys worth!

Aside from any insurance issues, it is also wise to guard against the awning getting damp and mouldy especially over the winter. I leave three large bowls of salt in our caravan, at the front, the kitchen and the end washroom and it is surprising how much water the salt absorbs. Top tip though - don't forget to drive off without first removing salt bowls - had a right rollocking off the war office for doing that!
