Storm Straps

Hi All
As some of you may know from previous posts I have a Sunncamp Ultima 390 awning, and have just ordered a 180 for short breaks.
I have a brand new 'generic' storm strap kit sitting in my garage (the one with the plastic clips) that I had intended on using on my full awning before we swapped the van.

Does anyone have any experience of adapting these to be used on 'easy up awnings with the bendy fibreglass poles, as there is no buckle attachment on mine, and I cant see an obvious way of securing them on a sloping roof.

Just seems to be a bit of a waste if they can be butchered and put to some use.

cheers

Rick

How strange, I was just thinking exactly the same thing.

Im just trying to work out a way of being able to tenson the straps if I use cable ties. If I do manage to work something out this way, do you think I should use the springs that came with the kit, or just secure the strap directly to the stake

hi Rick,
depending on the size of the buckle end of the strap ( I assume its the plastic snap in type) there are literaly hundreds of buckles on belts on cheap bags and holdalls ect that one can adapt, I got 2 belts from the pound shop disgarded the wrong end and made a short loop in the belt with 4in of strap. this just slides over the poles at either end "while erecting" once the porch is up clip in the storm strap into the modified bit and secure with a screw peg to the ground.
I would have posted a illustration but dont know how to lol
