Our caravan a Topaz is fitted with the Stoves cooker. We have a problem that the design of the grill flap and bottom flap has these silly type hinges in that if you let them down at wrong angle they come off .The hinge is made in two parts which one sits on the other using a hooked method Has any one had one of these and solved the problem . I have been trying the web with no success.

Like DD I have not been able to find anything conclusive about your model, but I did find this

which looks as though its a common design feature for Stoves.

It seems its designed to allow the easy assembly of the door. It could be that for some caravans, having a grille door that can be easily removed may be an advantage as access through a kitchen might be tight with the grille in operation and teh door jutting out.

Thanks Robert
sorry mate I have never seen this type of hinge. I do wonder if Stoves May have realised their limitations and replaced them with a more robust unit. I can see how a modification may solve your problem but I am afraid it’s not for me to suggest anything non standard on any gas appliance.

Having looked back on some of my very old specifications for the Stoves range, what you have is meant to be like that.
It is , as has been suggested, removable to allow the easy access to the rest of the van whilst using the grill, and to make it easier when using the oven to remove whist loading the oven to allow people to pass without the door hitting their leg.

Thank you all for replies. As for ease of entry that would not be the case with our Topaz as with all compartments open one can easy pass by. It takes me anything up to 20 minutes to refit door some times, it is so fiddly.
