We went to Stowford on the PCv rally a couple of years back and have visited once since in the low season. Its a well managed park in lovely surroundings well away from noisy roads etc.

Good site with clean facillities.

A very popular park, it`ll get lots of recommendations.

We went a long time ago, paid for two weeks, managed to find another site after three days and were so happy to leave we gladly forfeited the site fees.

Thinking we were being unfair we called in two years ago, and the site has definately improved, but there was no way we would be happy stopping on a site as large and featureless as this.

It struck me as the caravanning equivalent of living in a tenement flat.

Having said that, there will be huge number of people that have no problem with field after field of caravans, and a site that has a bar, takeaway, big shop etc. Its just not what I go away for, but fortunately we all look for something different, and are usually catered for.

It is also a short drive away from some very nice places.

Hope you enjoy the `tour` wherever you decide to stop, it is one of my favorite parts of the country.

We were staying elsewhere last summer and called into Stowford to have a look around.

Admittedly it was August, but there was row after row after row of vans - pitches didn't look huge to us.

Depends what you want I guess, if you want peace and no facilities head to the CC Brooklea site up the road (

Hi Mokey Hanger

We booked for two weeks last year, only stayed there for one week

1st because we were nearly washed away the rain was running under the awning, and the ground could not take any more, people where packing up daily. We helped to pull caravans off with our freelander.

2nd I know you cannot blame the site for the weather, but you had to pay to use the pool for one hour at a time.

There are 3 bars on site one of which had dogs sitting on the seats and I am sure you can imagine the smell of wet pets, also the bar lady was so stressed because there wasn't enough bar staff she kept bursting into tears.

The 2nd bar smelt of damp.

The 3rd bar was the children's entertainment disco hall, staff was not friendly at all. They couldn't wait to get you out and close the doors, not child friendly at all.
