Our daughter is studying environmental engineering here in Germany and would very much like to do a period of practical training in the UK (about 6 weeks, roughly in the August to October timeframe). She wrote to a couple of addresses weeks ago but somehow they haven't seen fit to reply whether or not they have any vacancies so she's getting rather disappointed. Is there anyone out there in the business of town, or better still regional planning, that may be able to help her out?

Would a placement with a large waste management company be any use? They are big into alternative technology for waste disposal

Lutz has your daughter contacted W.S.Atkins & Partners. They are a very large multi discipline professional company specialising in all matters relating to construction. they have offices throughout the UK and i believe they are now world wide. Their head office is in London. (Might be trading now under the name Atkins). I am sure they have a web site.

Another multi discipline professional company which could be of help is Interserve. They also have offices throughout the UK and specialise in PFI with local and central government on schools and hospitals.

Thanks to you both. I had a look at the Aktins website and it does look as though they would be worth a try. Our daughter is focussing her studies on regional planning and Aktins seem to offer quite a lot in this direction.
