Suck it and see mirrors

I have been looking round for a pair of mirrors to use on my BMW 3 series touring when towing a caravan.

I have found these "suck it and see" mirrors and like the idea that they adjust with your wing mirror.

Has anyone else used this product? if so what do you think??

The main reservation about glass-mounted towing mirrors is that any knock from oncoming vehicles or turbulence can break the car mirror, which is often an expensive replacement these days.

I use wing-mounted towing mirrors - it does mean getting out of the car for adjustment at the start of a journey but so much better than mirror-mounted mirrors, they're even in line of sight so I don't get neck-ache twisting from side to side.

tugster,i have them,can only say that i would rate them 10 out of 10.why,they dont shake and highly unlikely to get hit by any object or tubulence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Citroen Picasso that has oval shaped mirrors, I found it difficult to find a towing mirror that would firmly fit.

I purchased two suck-it-and-see mirrors which I thought were costly at

I have major reservations about them, mainly concerning the extra load they put on the existing mirror glass.

The above link seems to have the same jist as this thread. Those who own and have used suck it and see mirrors love them. Those who have just read about them and not used them don't like them. The problem I have is that they are quite exspensive to just "suck it and see" if you excuse the pun!!

I also drive a bmw 3 series with electric heated coffee making fandango mirrors, and through experience with bmw I would have to sell my new caravan to pay for a new genuine mirror from bmw if this product was to damage my mirrors.

I love the idea that they are easy to fit and work off my electric mirrors but don't know if this is worth the risk. Would be nice if there is a dealer at the NEC this weekend that can give more infomation about these mirrors.

One cannot expect the manufacturer or dealer of "Suck-it & See" mirrors to make anything but positive comments about them. Your safest bet would be to ask BMW to confirm that the electric mirror adjustment and mirror glass on their product can cope with piggy-back "Suck-it & See" mirrors.

I used 'suck it and see' mirrors for about 6 months and eventually sold them. For me they stopped me using my normal vehicle mirrors as they blocked the view. I now use Milenco and they are excellent.

I heard they not legal because they dont have an e mark, and many shops are taking them off the shelves because of trading standards.

Looked at these when they first came out. We were towing with an Accord at the time and they would not fit as the glass sits relatively deep in the mirror housing on the Accord. Think I would also be concerned at the strain placed on the vehicles mirror.

Hi all I have a citreon piccaso and use milenco mirrors I clip them on the bottom of the cars mirrors as it's flat had no trouble using this method peter

I had those mirrors that attach with the big rubber bands but although the vision field was good, the vibration made them difficult. They also moved with the wind. I changes to the suck it and see mirrors at
