Im taking our Little boy to see the Monster Jam at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff in October and rather than drive there and back in one day from chester i thought we could take the caravan and make a boys weekend of it!
A newbie friendly site would be great but other than that anything goes.
Thanks Chris

Without doubt the Cardiff Caravan Site is best. The site is basic but safe, quiet ,flat and clean. It costs about £19 a night. When you leave the site it is a 15 min easy walk through the beautiful Bute park and this brings you to within 100m of the Millenium Stadium.Stroll down Westgate Street opposite the park or bear right and walk the boardwalk alongside the Taff (depending on your entrance)and VOILA!
Alternatively when you've gone through the park and met the road, turn left, walk 100m and you're in the city centre.Cardiff is a wonderful compact city with a magnificent St Davids 2 shopping centre .
Bikes are available for hire on site. There are a few shops near to the site if you leave by the small exit about 20 yards behind the wardens office. Then walk 100 yards along the pleasant street to the main road.
You'll love it.

Hi!

Sophia Gardens is an absolutely brilliant site from which to explore Cardiff. Next to the new cricket ground and no more than a 15 minute slow walk to the millenium staduim. The centre of Cardiff is only five minutes further on. For Cardiff Bay you will have to take your car or get a bus.

John the warden is retiring this year - I and (swmbo) was there at easter and he may well be retired now. Top man, a first class warden. If his replacement is half as helpful as John then the site will still be in safe hands.

Yes you can leave the site near the wardens office and down a side street onto Cathedral Road, turn right to the shops. the halfway is a good pub for a few beers and food.

On the down side - with a couple of good reviews here it may be busy!

We are booked up again for next Easter.
