Hi All,

We currently have an NR porch awning and after seeing loads of these awnings around we are thinking of buying one.

Are there any issues with these awnings ??

Our neighbour says that there is a gap between the awning and the side of the van is there any cure to this ??

Any opinions greatly appreciated !

Many Thanks

Ian

We bought one of these two years ago. So long as you position the rods the right way you dont get a gap between the van and the awning.

We find it extremely light, one person can erect it (although its easier when two of you have a go at it). They dont rot, and if its raining when you come to pack up we just dismantle and throw it into the shower compartment until we get to the next site.

We paid about

Hi Ian

I agree with everything that Linda has said about Sunncamp awnings. We have a scenic plus which is big enough to put a table and a couple of chairs in. I have some health and mobility problems and I can erect the awning easily on my own and it's not too heavy to lug around in it's bag.

When we had the weekend of snow recently we were at the C&CC site in Oxford and the awning stayed dry inside and supported the weight of the snow until I brushed it off.

Definitely recommended.

HI ALl,

thanks for the replies, all sounds good so now I will have a look around for the best deal.

Does anyone know of anywhere that buys awnings off you ??

We have heard of problems with these awnings ripping in high winds but I would imagine that a full awning is more likely to rip as it isnt as flexible ?

Many Thanks

Ian

Ian we have the Scenic Plus and find it brilliant. To help with the gap between van and awning we bought a pack of foam pipe insulation tubes from our local DIY store. we slide the edges of the awning flaps, which go against the side of the van, through the slits in the lengths of foam insulation and gaps filled it also helps with awning flapping against the van in wind. Hope this helps.

Hi Ray,

Sounds great, I will have a chat with the family about it tonight, they still want the full Bradcot but I refuse to put that up for 2 nights and I find the Nr porch a hassle to put up by myself as well.

The only thing i can think of is that it is green and we have A 2001 challenger which is burgundy on the outside (wouldnt bother me but the wife is very particular about these things)

ANyway thanks very much for the offer and i will let you know on our decision later this evening !!

many thanks

Ian

We're very interested in the Scenic plus but the door to our Caravelair Ambiance is only 80cm from the rear of the van. I have looked on the Towsure website and note the awning splays out when looked at sideways on. Does anyone think this may cause us a problem?

Thank you for the informative comments which convinced me to look at this lightweight practical awning

Peter, the amount of splay would depend upon the height of the awning rail and the ground drop off. It is slayed out so it is taut - the higher the rail and the more ground drop off the less splay. I am no expert as I have a Scenic Plus on which I did a trial run, but never used as I changed to a motor home. I think you will be ok as far as the 80cm is concerned unless the rear end of the van / rail curves sharply.

Ray(c). Many thanks for your comments. The awning rail is 2.4m high - so hopefully that should minimise the splay. I've decided to go ahead and order one because at the price and apparent quality it must be a good buy. Touching wood here!
