We have just bought and used this awning in a windy Fort William and in Aviemore. On the second day in Fort William it began to pull out of the awning rail and we decided to take it down. This was a wise move as another type of porch awning blew off its rail and was wrapped around its respective caravan so we helped to take down as the owner was abscent. I should say the conditions were very windy and we later learned that a few people had suffered with awning failure! Probably the reason it started to come out of the awning rail was that our rail was too wide. We rectified this in Aviemore with some duct tape to pad out the cador and it was fine and have just had the van serviced and the rail reduced in width so hopefully the problem will have been resolved.
The awning is the type with only one front pole. We liked this because it is very quick to erect and doesn't have any poles touching the van. There are only two guy ropes either side which may not be enough in stormy conditions although that said it was the awning rail which was the problem for us. We really liked the awning for a quick weekender to get out of the rain and store wet gear. It rained a fair bit at Fort William and there were drips where labels had probably been stiched on after waterproofing but we didn't see this as being a great problem and have bought some seam sealer to apply next time we use it. Overall we were quite pleased with it.
