Has anyone got one of these awnings, the 390 one. I know they are not as robust as a proper awning but I would like to have an unbiased opinion of them. Weight is an issue for us so something light weight like this might just fit the Bill. Oh yes, I have seen one on site looks reasonable quality.

Thanks

Paul

Very lightweight, packs away neatly into a small holdall.

I bought one, used it once, found it an utter pain to put up ( I used to put up my old full size Isabella in a fraction of the time), wouldn`t seal against the sides of the van so flapped all night in the slightest breeze, and it was wetter inside from condensation than the outside after a storm.

Admittedly I was pitched on a very slight slope, but we were near the hedge at the back of the pitch so I couldn`t peg the guys out properly either.

After messing about with it for three days, I took it down, put it away, and managed to get rid for

High Paul,

I have the 260 they have good and bad points.

You must have a complete straight roof for the area required for the awning,Easy to erect I have Qty 3 flexible poles compared to Qty 4 on the model you require, about 10 mins it up and ready.

They do not fit close to the van sides, so you would have problems with a dog , ours is always on a flexible lead whilst outside within the awning. They are a problem in heavy end winds as they tend to slide along the awning rail, we tie ours to our grab handles to stop them moving.

Hi

We have the 390 version and we have been very pleased with weight and ease of putting up. Only minor problem was pooling one night due to poor set up by me, but corrected following day and no problem at all

I have the Ultima 390, I bought it to replace a large isabella awning which I detested putting up.

We do not use an awning on a regular basis. long weekends or weeks only, 4 nights plus.

The Ultima 390 provides a decent amount of space, somewhere to dry clothes and towels and sit down and eat for 4 people comfortably. we have had 10 people sitting at night but it was a bit of a squeeze.

On flat ground front/to back it is very easy to put up and get a seal on the van. we use foam pipe insulation to give the sides some weight. if the ground slopes towards or away from the van this makes it more difficult but not impossible to get a seal.

we have had the ground sloping heavily back to front and away from the carvan. it was impossible to seal and we took the awning down as the flapping was annoying.

if we want to using the 390 we look for a flat pitch, if that isnt possible we can live without the awning happily.

in summary, if you require the awning for a dog ect, you are taking a risk with the 390 as it isnt suitable for all locations.
