Hi fellow caravaners,

Read alot about the above Porches in this forum,Just come back from our first trip with our new ranger series 5 460/4 Found the Porch very easy to erect , only problem being when we had very strong winds the part of the bendy frame that slots into the top was squeaking against the sides of the van cured it by putting pieces of foam between the van and the canvas ,Has anybody else experienced this problem.

Yes, I had have this problem with the Scenic Plus in the past.

I've found that pegging the strip of material that presses against the van as taught as possible will reduce it happening.

Get some rubber suckers that fit on awning poles for next to the van, cut a slit in each one and fit over the ends of the horizontal pole. This will stop it rubbing on the van sides.

Thanks for the tips, Will try and get the flaps closer to the van,and the rubber suckers sound great. The squeaks where driving us crasy during some heavy wind gusts that we had at Ferry Meadows, the porch stood up to all the winds without moving, where some people with standard awnings were having to fit their storm straps to stop the awnings lifting.

We bought a Scenic Plus awning on the strength of recommendations from Forum members. It really is a great little number. It withstood some real heavy rain and gusty winds during a thunderstorm recently.

However, you can stop the pressure against the awning rail and van by inserting some spongetex foam (the pads usually used in washing up, etc.). Cheap, chearful and they do the job perfectly. Use the 2 pack ones which tend to be thicker.
