Was a time, not so long ago that I'd get up at any hour if there was a chance of a decent shot of anything. My enthusiasm, like the moon, has waned a bit over the COVID years.
A few years back, while in New Zealand, we visited a place called Gisborne. Not much of a town but it's claim to fame at that time was that it was the first place to see the sun rise. So, after getting some advice about the best location from the motel owner I set off at about 4am. Got to the designated place and set up my camera. And waited, and waited and waited as it got lighter but no sign of the sun. So I gave up and just as I drove around and down the hill I saw what was left of the sunrise. I'd been facing the wrong way.
Never been back but have caught the sunrise at home. Not as often as the sunsets though.
