Not caravan related but this has perplexed me... I'm currently in Finland and am surprised by the amount of cars with a towbar fitted compared to the UK.
Seemingly every other car in Helsinki has one, with most having what look like OEM detachable or fixed retractable; with the semi electric retractables being quite obvious when left in the deployed positions. Not spotted any caravans but this style of covered trailer seem to be everywhere:
