I've asked the 'powers that be' a few times if the forum could have a classified ads section for used accessories but they are not keen on the idea judging by the responses.
This means that the 'no advertising' rule still applies until we are told something different

I agree, forest. I have some front caravan cushions, which have been replaced with a set of drawers, which are taking up room in my spare room. I don't want the hassle of advertising and haggling over price, and would rather just give them away to a member on here. It is a shame that we can't have an 'accessories' for sale bit too. I suppose the powers that be are worried that they might lose advertisers if we all start swapping bits with each other, and no one buys anything new!

I agree too. I have some stuff that I would be happy to pass on freely to a good home. The hassle of ebay is just not worth it. A perfectly good hitch lock for instance.

Someone on our local Freecycle is wanting a hitch-lock at the moment! I've recycled our old battery that way. It was perfectly useable still, but not quite powerful enough for the motor-moved. The taker was a young family, doing up their first caravan, and they were so thrilled! It made my day a few weeks later when they emailed to say they'd had their first holiday in the van, and had a great time. It is nice giving stuff away, but I've tried to Freecycle my cushions and no one is interested at the moment.

So why we can't we use the link to Buy / Sell. Can you only use the link for caravans like statics?? See first advert. Apparently it is free to advertise. If I have misread then it must be ambiguous

I asked quite a while back before the forum revamp if the Caravan Finder could be used to advertise used or unwanted accessories but at that time the reply was sort of 'wait and see'.
I imagine that there may have been some reluctance to provide an internet resource that would be in direct competition with the classified section included in the Practical Caravan magazine.
In reality the fact that Haymarket have provided an online Caravan Finder when the magazine classified section also carries free adverts with caravans advertised for sale negates that argument somewhat.
By including an accessory sales section more users would have navigated to the Caravan Finder i.m.o.thus increasing the possibility of the used caravans up for sale being seen. If commercial advertisers were also allowed to pay for banner adverts on such a resource I'd have thought it to be a win-win situation for all concerned.
