Perhaps it will be 'new' - and not before time because the only really 'new' thing that has happened in the caravan industry since bonded construction was introduced in 1979 is the Bailey Pegasus.
One suspects that Swift have been burning the midnight oil to come up with their own 'alutech' caravan - at least, they will have done so if they want to remain competitive.
On the other hand, are the R&D costs associated with such a project justifiable when one considers that caravanning in general must now be pretty close to the end of its natural life-span due to environmental (and many other) constraints)?
Bailey obviously think so - but, who knows?
The Pegasus is a wonderful innovation - but it might just be ten years too late. It's just my own view, of course, but it's difficult to envisage anyone still left caravanning at the expiration of the Pegasus ten year warranty.
The future is (sadly) electric - and people are going to look back in astonishment at car & caravan outfits weighing the best part of 2 tonnes trundling along at less than 25 miles to the gallon.
The major clubs can certainly see the writing on the wall - the CCC 'Your Place In The Country' book is beginning to look more like a brochure from a log cabin holiday company, than a touring caravan club!
