Swift Charisma 560 Roof Hatches

Hi, I have just bought a 2010 Charisma and have a question regarding the two smaller roof hatches, one above the galley area and the other in the toilet/shower room. They are a double skinned plastic and have permanent ventilation. Both have dirt trapped in between the two surfaces and need a clean. How do you remove the whole hatch to do this? There is a two handle release arrangement for opening and locking closed, but it is not obvious how to lift them out completely, unless it is undoing the 4 x screws that hold the lifting arrangement in place and carefully removing them.
Thanks
Elliot

You do indeed have to remove the 4 screws holding the handles to release the top part of the rooflight and lift it off.

Thanks for that - I hope the whole lot doesn't suddenly spring off and fly in a hundred different directions...

Thanks

Is there a right or wrong way to do this - does it make any difference if the roof hatch is open or closed when loosening these 4 x screws? I just don't want to get it wrong - when it is presently secure and weather tight and only needing a good clean.

Thanks
Elliot

The screws in the handles which connect to the inner frame need to be removed, remove the cover caps and a small phillips screwdriver is needed.
The vent can be open or closed, whichever makes it easier to get to the screws, it will not spring out and fly everywhere.
Depending on how the two parts of the roof vent are secured, it may be possible to remove 4 large screws and the two pieces come apart, or if not, it will need either a jet of water to shift the dirt or a very flexible probe and a piece of cloth , just don't lose the cloth between the parts and not be able to withdraw it !!
