Hi All

Just bought our first van, a very well looked after 2001 Swift Charisma 525. Got it on site last weekend for the first time to assess what is needed and discovered we need a new leisure battery.

Now I forgot to measure the size of the battery box, no worries I thought as the max battery size is in the PDF catalogue I downloaded so can refer to this when we get home.

Problem is I am 99% sure that the size info given must be incorrect. It states;

Height 193mm, width 102mm, depth 210mm

102mm! I can't find a leisure battery that small!

Does anyone have a similar model van so they can tell me the dimensions to save me a 220mile round trip this weekend?

Many thanks and a big hello!

Shaun

Hi Shaun .There is definitely something wrong with those measurements the width you have quoted is less than the width of a car battery. The height measurement may we be correct but that is the only one that is.. When you get the correct measurement may I suggest you give a look at Tayna Batteries they do a very respectable price on batteries.Many forum member have or are using them and they are next day delivery .Please let us know how you get on it is always nice to get feed back from suggestions we give..Just had a quick look round and this maybe your battery length 278 mm width 175mm and height 190mm

Skelbelly,
Don't forget to allow space on top of the battery for the battery cables.
Generally the bigger the battery casing the higher the Ah capacity.You don't say what the Ah capacity is for the battery dimensions you give.

Shaun. Bertie boy has made a good point .I know I did mention Tayna Batteries earlier. I bought one from them last year after using a lower ah battery Changed to 110 amp which are slightly smaller in height..You will find that Tayna and others will give you the all round battery size .They always say check you batter box size before ordering .

To the OP: if you are away from home go and get an own-brand from Halfords. They are badged Yuasa batteries, one of the best you can get, and a 115Ah costs £89.
