Swiss motorway vignette

I will be passing through Switzerland en route to Italy and need some advice about the motorway pass/vignette. Generally I understand you need to get one each for the car and the caravan and these can be bought in advance but I also read somewhere that if the total combined weight of car and van is over 3.5 tonnes then you need to buy the vignette that applies to HGVs and this can only be bought on entry. As our van is 1.8 tonnes and car over 2 tonnes we would exceed this limit - can anyone advise which vignette we need?

Cheers

Michael

Each vignette is applicable to a vehicle of up to 3.5 tonnes. As you need a vignette for both the car and the caravan, the gross train weight must be less than 7 tonnes, and somehow I think you are unlikely to exceed that.
