Hi all,

New to this forum so please be gentle with me !!!

I am after a little advice, we are off to Killarney in Ireland in the early hours of Satuday morning with our new van. We are also taking our 4 pet dogs and I have booked a couple of kennels on the Irish ferry.

Does anyone know how big the kennels are? and can we have access to them once at sea. My wife is getting quite worked up over the fact the crossing is 3.75 hours and if the dogs get upset or ill will we be told.

How has anyone on this forum dealt with taking their pet dog/s on a ferry crossing? we are going from Pembroke to Rosslare.

Any advice/tips would be appreciated.

Thank You

Hi

We did the same crossing two years with James's parents and their two dogs.

Irish ferries advised us that most dogs are happy and travel in the car or caravan with the windows slightly open and with a good supply of water.

As we left the car deck with other passengers a chorus of dogs started from many vehicles, a crew member laughed and said it was usual and all would be quiet in a few minutes. There were very many people travelling with dogs and some vehicles had 4 or more dogs in them.

Our two were fast asleep when we returned to the car out and inbound.

We crossed to Ireland 5 years ago, we left our labrador in the car as advised and had no problems at all. If youre staying at Flemings White Bridge you'll find it a great site.
