Service engineer came today to do the first annual service on out Elddis Xplore.
First thing he found was the charger didn't. Van was under the covers until yesterday and I had put the mains lead in for a couple of days a month to keep the battery topped up. He changed the charger and all fine(warranty item).
Next thing he finds is that no water comes out of kitchen tap. Comes out of the shower and bathroom taps fine. He took the tap body out and fitted replacement - still no water coming out and when he switched on the pump it did not run when kitchen tap turned on. As the kitchen tap is merely 'Teed' off the line running to the bathroom we assumed it was blocked somewhere between the T and the tap ( I thought this strange as both hot and cold would be blocked.) Anyway he finished off the service as he was running out of time before his next appointment and I said that I would look at the pipes between T and tap. Well i thought first off I would take out the tap body and see if water would flow through the pipes. Yes it di so I thought I would now refite the body and see if it would flow - maybe airlock I thought. No flow with tap body fitted, pump runs for a couple of minutes then stops. When I turn off the pump and remove tap body there is big residual pressure behind the body (hence pump stops after a minute or so).
Now I have checked the orientation/alignment of the tap body and tried both new and old body but still no flow through the tap. new body is reich 173 and old body is FLO2b but they seem identical physically.
Can blow through both taps when open and not when taps closed. Can blow back through the pipes.
Why doesn't the water come through????

DOH,
just taken the end off the spigot and underneath the metal gauze filter on the end of the tap is ANOTHER plastic filter which is choked with limescale! Why would they put that there. There is already an inline filter for the cold and why would you need it for the hot. Only used the van for about 8 weeks since new and it's blocked. I shall clean it with calgon and the next time it blocks I shall lose it.
Sorry for the panic. Now to put it all back together.

Why is it there? Looks like because it is essential to catch lime scale generated in the boiler migrating into the tap itself.

Could work out an expensive mistake to let the scale get into the valve cartridge.

The "plastic filter" you refer to is in fact a flow restrictor to stop the pressure of the water causing it to go into the sink and straight out the opposite side.
As far as the previous comment about being expensive if limescale gets into the cartridge, it already has passed through by the time it reaches the spout filters.
Just make sure you remove the filters fairly regularly and clean them, and put them back.

I guess there are Whale taps which I have mentioned previously in earlier threads.

Agree that it is good to have the restrictors and filters in a screw in nozzle at the delivery end of the tap, but why is there no mention of this in the caravan handbook or in any Whale leaflet that I can find ?

If ypu happen to have the assembly fall to pieces when you remove it, it is not at all obvious how to reassemble it. If there is a leaflet showing the correct order I would much appreciate knowing the link to it

there are no diagrams/instructions in the caravan handbook. At the outlet of the spigot there are two metal gauze filters and this double fine plastic filter. Seems a bit ott to me. Have cleaned as I said and replaced. As you say there is also the inline filter and a metal gauze filter in the tap body.

We removed our spout gauze and replaced it with a swivel fitting with built in gauze from Lakeland can now point the tap around the sink with a choice of gentle full flow or more open wider more powerful shower effect, means that when bleeding the air out we don't get sudden gush into the sink that splashes everywhere and when washing up can direct the flow.
