Hi.
Bit of a long shot here but maybe someone can help.
We have a Tefal Actify which the wife loves using and we also take it away in the caravan sometimes.
Unfortunatly, the heating element has packed up and I cant seem to be able to get to it to replace it.
I have turned it upside down and there are 3 screws but they seem to require a special tool to undoe them.
Is there any way to get to the element from the top?
I have searched Google for an answer, but cant seem to find one.
I suppose the only way would be to contact Tefal direct.
Hope you can help.

This is not going to help.
We had one of them fryers, great but the plastic lid broke and kept popping up so we tried to contact them to see if they sold spares, we gave up in the end a binned it.
I do hope you have more luck than me.

If they are security screws this set from Screwfix covers the ones I have had to get out
http://www.screwfix.com/p/security-bit-set-33pcs/96872

This looks like the element

I use 4ourhouse and they have been reliable but you may find a cheaper supplier with google

Thank you Reg and Pate and Deli Dave.
Got a feeling that the wife may prefer to buy another new one,but those tools certainly look like what i need to undoe the bottom screws.Thanks.
I assume that once those screws are removed, the two halves should seperate and expose the element which requires changing.

We have an Actifry which is why your post caught my eye so far it has been troublefree but looking at it you are probably right.A new one is well over £100 so its worth taking it apart. Many appliances have a thermal fuse which can be replaced from places like Maplins for about a £1 each so if its not working you havent much to lose.

Thank you Deli Dave.
Im not sure what you mean by "thermal fuse" though.
Is this a seperate thing from the element?
Sorry for being so thick, but im not into electrics at all.

Its usually a small silver cylinder about 10mmlong and 3 to 4mm diameter on the wiring that protects everything from overheating but there are variations. If you take it apart you may see it,you can check the element for continuity and the same with the fuse.I would get the cover off and check it with a multimeter if you can get hold of one.If you can take a picture of the guts and email it to me I might be able to point it out if you can't locate it.

Thanks for the help.
We are off tomorrow in the van for a few days, then when we come back (if other half decides not to buy a new one)I will purchase one of those tool sets and when it arrives, get to work dissmantling the Actifry.
Unfortunatly, its only just over a year old but its certainly been used on a regular basis.
Will let you know how we get on Deli Dave.
Thanks once again.
