TELEVISIONS

Hi

My hubby and I are new to caravanning and I was wondering if we take a tv do we need a separate tv licence if we already pay tv licence for home?

Your home licence covers you for the van - provided nobody is also watching the TV at home at the same time.

In practice, I've never heard of detectors turning up at a site, and the owners/wardens probably wouldn't let them in anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it.

The law - permits the use of television receiving equipment in a touring caravan without a seperate licence - provided that a licence is held for your home address and that no receiving equipment is used at home at the same time so no videoing soaps to watch when you get home.

In practice - TV license enforcement operates by regularly checking those addresses without a licence so they won't check your home and are unlikely to check individual caravan pitches particularly when the majority will have licences.
