Why do caravan parks have to mix people in tents and caravans together there should be separate areas for each holiday maker, i`ve found people in tents invade the next pitch as tents become increasingly bigger and all inhabitants are also up very early in the morning due to them having to sleep on the floor, don`t tenters realise there is no soundproofing in a tent and we can hear you, please keep us separate

Anthony,

I have to disagree with you here, we have a caravan and friends have a tent, they share our facilities. It makes it much easier having them next to us.

I know this wouldn't suit everyone but it suits us

I find I can agree, and disagree equally with you.

We used to go along with caravaning friends of ours, and we took the tent, and yes we were up early every morning, but we had respect for the others on the site, and kept our voices down, just as we now do with our van when away.

Unfortunitly, we have come across tenters and caravaners who make noise early in the mornings, and invade your pitch, and drink into the wee hours(nothing wrong with that in it's self), but they insist in "partying" along with it.

Its just society in general these days!! no one gives a toss about others, and those who do are few and far between.

I agree tents should have their own area, recently we were on a weeks holiday and on the Friday a family arrived with three young children, they set up their tent in the pouring rain I felt really sorry for them. The next day they were up at 7am shouting and screaming running around the campsite and on the Sunday they were up at 6.30 am doing the same thing they then left early by 9am so they had only come for a weekend but there was no consideration for anyone else on the campsite. Not everyone but alot of people today just don't care about anyone but themselves. We try and pick campsites that have separate areas which is not many, I think as well if you don't have children it would be nice to be with other people who are the same and keep famillies together.

oh dear,

i think it may be the people and not the tents, we do both, we have just purchased and picked up our new caravan at the wkend, and while deciding which one to buy used our tent so as not to miss a weekend away, im the same person in my tent as in my caravan, so where do i fit in your assumption, i dont get up because i sleep on the floor, i get up when i want to, same as in the van, i dont make excessive noise because im in a tent, in fact i make less because i know sound carrys, so, maybe its the people you come across, and not just the fact they use tents, hope you do get to enjoy yourself, from a very nice tent person, and a just as nice caravan person, regards ED

Well, i am a touch "tentist"

I agree about them being up early, on the occasions that i have been unlucky enough to be parked up near some they are always first up and the noisiest. i am sure that this doesnt count for all breeds of tenters, just my experiences.

Once in Unity Farm the tenters opposite us were very noisy, constant banging of footballs on the concrete road, kids running around the vans, bikes left in the middle of the roads, then as if by miracle, that night it hammered down with rain and blew a gale.

I woke up at 3 am to a hell of a noise as the rain beat against the roof of my van, i heard a massive commotion outside and as i lifted the blind to see i saw their tent blowing all over the place, several of them trying desperatly to peg it back down, i tittered to myself, turned up the heating a degree or two and fell asleep soundly. the following morning they were gone.

You see, the moral is the story is this, even God himself hates tents.

Only joking folks. well, about the god bit anyway.

There's a lot of caravanning snobs like you Anthony - perhaps you should stick to caravan only sites to avoid your holiday being spoilt.

I'm a camper who chooses to tow a caravan - I don't have any problem with other campers regardless of whether they choose motorhomes, caravans, or tents.

The few problems I've had with fellow campers relate to their attitudes, not their chosen accomodation.

Don't just blame the kids - we're coming to caravans from tents and our biggest problem with tents is that yes you can here everything outside - once it gets late and the drink has been flowing for a while too many people just don't realise their language is becoming louder and bluer! Even a quiet converstion walking back from the pub can be heard clearly in every tent passed

We look forward to the better sound proofing of a 'van!

Roger, i am far from being a snob believe me,if i was i would go and stay in a hotel away from campers but the fact is i like caravanning all i ask is that if you prefer a tent then camp where the tents are,i like my caravan and would like to be around like minded people i talk to many people with tents whilst on site and my friends have tents also, but if i am on holiday i do not want to get up at the crack of dawn as i do that often enough for work at home , i come on holiday to relax not get woken up by tenters have an early morning brew and chat thankyou very much

i don't think this is just tentism, it smacks of 'sleeping under canvasism'! what about those of us who have friends sleeping in the awning? is this just as unexceptable? there are those who do not respect others peace and quiet but they can be in caravans, campervans, and tents! Come on, i think there are far to many people who look for something to complain about! Bad behaviour is bad behaviour, no matter what you are staying in, let's not blame one particular group!!!

A site full of white caravans is only slightly less monotonous that one of static vans. A mixture of tents and vans gives a sense of vibrancy and interest. It is people's behaviour which matters rather than their form of habition.

Ruth - couldn't agree more.We have just come back from 2 weeks in France on the Castels sites.

Their sites are a good mix of caravans, statics, tents and motorhomes. It provides a good mix I think and encourages unity.

You see some of the sites in the UK and the promo material and there is just a line of caravans on hardstandings. Not the most attractive view I think and the sites could be anywhere in the UK.

So where would you put folding campers. They have a caravan bottom but a canvas top?
