Test button

We have an Avondale Dart 510-5

The electrical box in the caravan has a test button in.When the button is pressed what happens?. Also how long does the button stay in because the main trip switch will not stay on it trips out.

Thanks Will

If it is an RCCB or RCD test button it will trip the module as that is how it tests it, you will then need to return the lever to the on position.

The test involves leaking a small amount of current to earth to trip the unit.

Under normal circumstances the same amount of current should be flowing through the L and N wires any current on the earth wire indicates a fault or someone getting fried.

Clever bits of kit!

Hi Garry

I always make the comparison with the balance scales (chemistry)with live on one side and neutral on the other

If one side of the scales is out by a few milliamps then the trip trips

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the replies. The problem is now fixed. The test button was sticking in so not allowing the trip switch to go back into the on position.

Thanks Again Will
