I have used this site a few times to visit relatives. Excellent dog walking in country park accross road from site. The coal slag heaps have been grassed over and good gravel paths laid to make the country park. Walk to the highest point and there is an excellent bronze statue of a miner. Good for an evening stroll.
Chatsworth house and grounds are not far, also Hadden Hall.
Matlock and the Heights of Abraham are worth a visit.
The Crown Derby factory in Derby is also worth a visit.
The information room at Teversal has plenty of leaflets and the owners are really helpfull.
No Lisa it was not a Caravan Club site. It was origonally caalled Shadaroba and was a private site. It is still owned by the origonal owners but is now part of the Camping and Caravan Club network. It is just north of Sutton- in Ashfield and to the west of Mansfield.
I think the one you are thinking about is the C.C. one at a Marina now affiliated to the C.C. I think it is called Shardlow Marina.
This site is about an hours cycle ride from my house down the many disused railwaylines that now act as footpath / cycle paths in this area. Ive never stayed on the site as its so close to home but can confirm it looks very clean and tidy.
Hardwick hall and the estate is close by and well worth a visit (would recommend Hardiwck Inn for food). The Debyshire Dales are about half an hours car ride away.
