There are some small fittings that Truma sell to help you hold the bottles in older vans which are not made to carry the larger diameter bottles. It does look like the manufacturers do see the gaslight bottles as the way forward as all new vans we looked at are made to carry the larger bottles. They surely would not have done this if they thought it was just a flash in the pan.

Hi all, finally got a reply from BP about the BP light gas bottle. I was asking about availabilty and refills through Europe. I was a bit dissapointed with the fact that I could only swap for a full bottle in the countries that are part of the European Exchange Program. In other countries I would have to buy a new one. Also, from what I can gather they are not available from BP petrol stations only specific stockists. This makes it seem more trouble than its worth.

How easy is it to refill/ exchange bottles through Europe as I am now thinking of getting a normal 9kg Leisure Propane Gas Bottle. I am going to be on the road for about 4 months and don't want continuing hassles with refills/swaps.

By the way the full response is below.

Hope this helps

cheers Rod.

Good Morning

Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in your response.

The BP Gaslight bottles are available in Norway, Sweden, Finland,

Portugal, Poland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands &

France.

The bottle was only recently launched in France, Unfortunately I do not

have a list of distributors for France or Portugal. I believe the

market in France and Portugal is butane.

Norway, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany &

Netherlands are part of the European Exchange Programme, this means that

you can exchange your bottle in these countries, but in the other

countries you would have to purchase a brand new bottle (rather than a

refill) Please visit our website for further information

www.bpgaslight.com

We have not received any information on introducing the BP Gas Light

bottles into Spain and Italy as yet.

Stephen, did you have to purchase a new BP Light gas bottle when you went to exchange/refill your gas bottle in Portugal?

Thanks Rod

Appears there has been a partial improvement in the availability of the BP Gas light bottles. It appears that in the last few days the DIY store HOMEBASE has become a distributor. Only partial improvement as the chain appears only to be stocking the 10kg bottles.

Must have something to do with global warming and the expected sales in the BBQ department in the summer months to come!

See BP Gas Light site for details of outlets.
