The Gower

Many years ago we used to take the trailor tent down to the Gower and before that go self catering down there.

At the time most of the sites looked rather comercial to us although we found one that suited.

A private message from another board (non camping related) reminded me of the area.

Can anybody sujest a good (fairly) quiet site with facilities that might suit 2 wrinklies and their popup van?

PS. we will avoid Herefordshire on the way across ;-))

If you are a member of the CC you will not beat Pembrey Country Park in this weather. It is very central for both east and west Wales and the park itself is just as nature intended - not commercialised at all. If you have push bikes there is also the Millenium Trail along the coast which is a beautiful ride.

Hi John,

Hope you havn't actually gone yet - love the Gower stayed at Mrs Griffiths, Fairwood Corner Farm CL and Mrs Beynon, Eastmoor Farm CL - both great. Also the commercial site in Rhossili which is just up the road from Eastmoor Farm - sorry can't remember the name of the site, it was OK though.

Rhossili beach is one of my favourite UK beaches and Three Cliffs bay takes some beating too - if you are fit try a walk across Rhossili Downs on a nice day - the views accross to the mainland and back down the Gower are spectacular.

The Mumbles is a great place too - the walk along the prom is nice.

Thanks folks.

The trips gone on hold for this year for health reasons.

Rossilli is fantastic I agree but health would make it a big NO Way.

So its a few days at Cirencester next week instead

We have just spent two weeks in Cirencester. Great place. Great site. I hope you have the weather we had - hot and sunny (except for one afternoon when it thundered/lightened and the rain fell like stair rods).
