the Vendee and Dordorgne sites

we are doing a two centre holiday this year 8 days at les biches in st jean de monts and 13 days at saint avit in le buges. Any comments on sites and regions would be helpful, also could co with an overnight stop between calais and vendee about 2 hours drive from calais. thanks

Hi Helen, we stayed near St Jean de Monts 3 years ago at Camping La Yole. Its a typical "seaside" resort and has a very nice beach. Quite a bit to do in the area.

If you only plan to travel 2 hours into France from Calais you will be leaving yourself quite a drive the following day. We stayed overnight at Savigne which is near Le Mans. This was about an 8 hour drive from Calais but only left about 4 hours the following day. I wish we had taken an over night ferry crossing to St Malo or Roscoff - I know the ferry is more expensive but you will save a lot on fuel costs and it will give you 2 days extra holiday- much more relaxing.

Have a great time.

Martin.

Hi stayed last year at a site near Le Buge at Limueil, lots to do in the area such as Kayak on the rivers, lots of caves to visit,Trogladite sites, medievil towns and vineyards near Bergerac also vineyards near Bergerac also vineyards near Bergerac sorry got carried away at the prospect of visiting the vineyards near Bergerac again this year when we return in June!

We stopped at St Avit Loisirs in Le Bugue a few years back. Very pleasant, nice for the kids, great pool and nice size pitches dotted around with plenty of tree cover for shade. Recommended. Phil.
