Barry, I am so sorry to read your posting. This is something that is happening on motorway service areas too and with the start of the caravanning season getting into swing, your message reminds us all to be aware that there are scumbags out there, ready and waiting for the opportunity to do this.

What a dreadful end to your holiday. Little consolation I know, but hopefully your caravan was insured and that you will be able to continue your caravanning again before too long.

Barry,

Sorry to hear your bad news, scumbags in this case sound as though X 2 The robbers and the Police. Phone your local MP and request a face to face, have the facts available and tell him/her you will inform your local press. I know it may be out of borough but they are all paid from the same trough.

Barry,

My heart bleeds for you. There are some real b*****ds out there.

We now make a point of not leaving the van at all.Either take it in turns to go to the main building,or use the van for a toilet break.

It is ridiculous that we have to do this but you just can't trust anyone.

Hope you get a quick response from the insurance company.

Barry, you do have our heart felt support and sympathy with this terrible crime.

Going back a few years I heard of a gang (two blokes) doing a simlar thing on the M5 south of Bristol. They would stop alongside a car towing a speed boat on the service area. Then unhook it and put it on their car. Then they would scapper off to a boat yard near Exeter and sell it for cash.

I'm afraid these days all the police seem to be interested in is "crime reference" numbers. Oh and of coarse to warn you about the consequences of the criminal " falling over !! " should you catch up with them. I've been down that route myself.

As a barman, one night some scumbag flashes a knife at me and of coarse I let fly with the three empty pint tankard's I had in my hand. Well I wasn't about to let him play norts and crosses on my chest. But guess who ended up inthe dock. Me !!

As much of a pain in the butt it is and the ear ache my better half gives, I fit both the hitch lock and wheel clamp when we're stopped on the services. Im afraid society has gone down the pan these days, too many "do gooders" trying to convert the un-convertable. I think the arabs have the right idea on this one. (taketh the hand that doth offend) at least he'd only do it twice!!

Even if the little sh*ts are caught and go to jail, they get let off for "good behavior", I fail to get the idea of behaving in prison when you cant't do it in civy street!! As for getting paid while in prison for the work they do that's another P**s take!!

For me if they get ten years then ten years it is and they work for free, no TV or games rooms etc. Hard labour is more like it. After all we have all worked hard to afford the nice things in life.
