Thetford Aspire 2 paint flaking off

We have a compass Casita 550 3y 6 maths old. The paint is bubbling and coming away from the top of the Thetford cooker ( strip where it meets the worktop and flat area behind the oven vent. Thetford have rejected any claim as it is beyond 3 year warranty. Surely this is a case of "poor manufacturing" and shpuld be sorted out!!
Has anyone else had similar issues please?
Thanks
Paul

Ours did the same on a 2012/13 caravan when it was nearly five years old. I just went to Hobbycraft who stock masses of small tins of Humbrol enamel. Rubbed the flaking area smooth and repainted using rust prevention primer then Humbrol. Came up fine.

I am afraid that given its age the guarantee has expired and there is no recourse against the manufacturer. You could claim against the dealer assuming this was not a private sale if you could show the cooker was faulty when you bought it but for the cost of putting it right yourself it is probably not worth it.

If you want to claim against the dealer you would need to prove that the defect was there from day one and is a latent defect. The other option is taking into account the price and any description aspects of quality should include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety. Both will be very hard to prove on a 3 1/2 year old caravan and you will require expert analysis which could be costly.

Thank you both for your replies... we bought the van brand new from Kimberley caravans, Nottingham. They have offered to contact Thetford about it. I am just hoping they can get something done.
