We have noticed that the red light on the flush tank comes on very dim at times and remains on even when the cassette is removed. What would cause this to happen? Also there appears to be moisture or wet in the cassette locker so not sure if a seal has gone although it is only 2 years old.
Secondly our Heki skylight with the fan is becoming very difficult to open. You turn it to open and it is almost as if it is stuck. I am worried forcing ti will break the knob. it has already been replaced twice. First time becasue the controls went ape. Second time because of this jamming thing.
Any suggestions?

Have known the toilet to leak a bit into the housing. Think this happened when the bowl was letf with a bit of water because the flush was used after closing the flap..
Have since tried to adopt a better operating routine where the flap is left open throughout the "visit"; no further occurances.

I suspect the red light is where the magnet in the cassette has some paper/debri caught around it and is holding the magent close to where it would sit when full.

No suggestions, but our Omnivent has the same problem. It has been approved for replacement under warranty and we are awaiting arrival of the replacement (1 month so far).

Last year it was replaced for the same fault. Both of us suffer from arthritis in our hands, wrists and arms so opening and closing it can be a painful experience. I wonder if they have managed to rectify the fault as it seems to be a common fault.

We suspected the same, but the red light remained on when the cassette was removed from the locker.

It sounds like the reed switch at the back of the housing has failed in the on position. This explains why the red light stays on. It is a fiddly item to replace and I suspect with your arthritis not an easy diy job. The parts are readily available at a dealer or direct from Thetford.
I thought your Lunar was still under guarantee??

The repair manual from Thetford should also help you . http://www.thetford-europe.com/en/service/repair-instructions.aspx

After giving it an extra good clean out, the light went out on its own after about an hour. Now the issue is to resolve the Omnivent / Heki issue as the thing is sticking constantly and no matter what you do, is extremely difficult to turn the knob to open once it is shut!

The Omnivent on my Abbey caravan had the exact same problem. I believe that it is caused by a slight warping of the roof light itself which causes the operating mechanism to go slightly overcentre and become geometrically locked. For some time I resolved the problem by slightly liftting the roof light with a thin skewer through the grill as I operated the opening mechanism.
As a permanent fix, I removed the sliding blind assembly, held by two screws, then the plastic grill, held by four screws ( a good opportunity to give them a good clean). I drilled a small hole through the plastic fan frame, at the opposite side to the hinge, and screwed a 20 mm self tapping screw through, which has the effect of preventing the roof light from fully closing. Over a year ago now and not had a problem with it since.
Hope you can do the same,
Regards, Liam

I have had the same problem with my Omnivent on my Swift Cornich for years now (13 years old) put it down to its age. I get round it by turning the Knob backwards and forwards, trying not to force it, until it opens. It has never seemed to alter. Will certainly try Liam99s idea. Did you need seal the tapper thread?

I had another look at the Omnivent today to refresh where I had put the screw. I took some photographs bur as usual I can not upload them. The reason for the jamming is because the roof light is lifted from one side only, as it starts to lift the roof light warps slightly and jams. The screw does not need sealing because the frame is about 25mm higher than the caravan roof . Regards, Liam.

If you (or other readers) need to conduct any repairs or rpelacements to Thetford units - their website has extremely useful step-by-step colour illustrations for each toilet type so if you do need to replace a seal or other item you can view how it's done from the manufacturer.
