Thetford Caprice grill - not stay lit when hot

Going round in circles not finding, surprisingly, previous mention of same symptoms.

Grill works for a while then cuts out once (coincidentally, I'm sure) the metal radiant panel over the burner gets red hot. WIll then relight but goes off immediatley upon release the knob. I thought maybe thermocouple issue so changed it for a new one but same problem. Very very snug and intricant and no doubt multiple gas connections to release if wanting to get at anything further (as I observed when changing thermocouple) so I'll be happier from here on in taking it somewhere, but where? Our usual Bailey approved service workshop isn't mad keen on getting involved probably for the same oooh that looks surprisingly fiddly reasons I want to take it to them! Any idea on cause and cure and cost and recommendations of Thetford cooker specialists? We're near York.

Try ringing the ropers outlet at Catterick which is Baileys , ( about an hour from you depending where you are in York ) they were always decent enough for explanations and quick fixes over the phone for me when i had problems ?!! ....

Curiously, if you hold the knob in long enough whilst relighting it after its gone out after the initial "now hot, so going to cut out" problem, it will the stay on for a further period of a minute or two.

This suggests to me it might be a faulty gas valve. Changing a c=gas valve is a job for a fully qualified professional.

Probably the one I got, as came from Prima, but don't know off hand and I suppose the new one could have been somehow faulty but gather they're quite simple affairs so one would presume dud-from-new is rare. I would have thought, notwithstanding I did change it, a faulty thermocouple would not permit the thing to light properly in the first place, ie. would always go straight off the moment the knob is released.
