Thetford cassette 2 toilet door key lost...help!

Hi all,

I've rather embarrassingly managed to completely lose the key to unlock the door to get to the toilet casette. has anybody get an ideas about getting the thing open without causing any damage?

Surely somebody has been here before and can offer me some advice?

Thanks chaps.

Bryn,

Most caravans one key fits all locks, if this is not the case with yours then I only know one solution. It has worked many times before for others on this forum.

1. Go and buy a new lock and key.

2. Take a medium size flat electicians screwdriver, needs to be about 5mm wide.

3.Take a small hammer, put the screwdriver in the key slot and with one good tap on the screwdriver drive it into the lock. Now turn the screwdriver and hey-presto the door is open. If not do it again. Now change your lock and do not lose the key.

If the above fails you will have no choice other than to drill it out.

Please let us know how you get on. Good luck. JTS.

same as lost mine whilst on site, big screwdriver in the lock gave it a good old turn, know i dont have to worry about the keys anything will open it a knife, fork, spoon

will get round to fixing it one day

I'm lucky, my older toilet doesn't have a door that must be locked, its got a button to open it and a lock to stop people stealing your waste products!

I keep a spare door key hidden in here and never lock it!

I suppose there's change of some oik stealing the cassette but i'm lucky with my parking and living in a low crime area.

Gareth
