Thetford cooling fans on Swift oven

Does anyone know why these noisy fans have been fitted.

The 2008 model did not have them and yet the 2009 has.

Is it another safety feature. Has someone had a glass lid shatter because it was not raised when the grill had been in use so this is a way of reducing the temperature?

All I know is they are driving me MAD!

You can't light he gas on our Ace/Swift with the glass lid down so its probably to reduce heat build up

Thats a change fro 2008 models glass lid has to be up safety feature.

I don't think that it has been said to be a change just a thought that it was a reason for fitting fans as someone may have had a glass shatter because of gas lit when lid down

As per your and my posting that shouldn't be a possibility

Morning James,

Me and the missus picked up our new twin axle Sterling a couple of weeks ago and went away in it for the first time last weekend. We were cooking the toast under the grill when all of a sudden we heard this noise we both looked at each other and gave the expression wtf is that. We then realised that it was a new fan fitted to the oven, we thought it was very classy, but after a while our thoughts changed and thought it was very annoying.

I think because due to cost cutting they have taken out the Extractor fan vent from the roof and also like you say you you don't have to have the oven lid lifted to light the grill, so it is also used to reduce the oven/grill temperature.

Thank God I am not the only one who finds it irritating.

Finish cooking and sit down to enjoy my F.E.B and all you can hear is the damn fans shattering the silence !
