Thetford fridge intermittent operation

We are having dreadful problems with our Thetford fridge. It seems that it operates very unreliablly whether it is on gas or electric. This weekend we went to a CC site having unplugged from our domestic electriity at home, then we placed the fridge on battery for the 20 minute journey, when we hooked up to the site electricity it refused to cool. We then lit the gas operation and that didn't work either.

The van was perfectly level, it is only 15 months old and it was supplied with our brand new van November 2007. To top it all; when we flagged this up at our annual sevice in November the Discover engineers tested it and it worked so they didn't investigate the problem that we had originally identified.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and how has this been rectified?

We are having a simalar problem with Discover and a Thetford fridge. Going in again next week for the third time but this time we are going to collect and stay on a cl not far from them and if its not right they can come there and fix it.I think I have spent enough on fuel running back and to they can come to me, its over 80 miles round trip for me to go to them. Can I ask what sort of intermittent problem you have? The last couple of weekends we have had an intermittent problem with our Thetford digital fridge - it is only 8 months old and has only been used for 4 months of those. We use electric and on switching on it's fine then after a while it comes with with error 13 (which is something to do with Thermistor according to the manual and it works on back up system!!!). The fridge still works and eventually the error message goes off again. But it keeps going on and off which, particularly when it does it during the night, is really annoying as it wakes us up because of the flashing of the flipping blue light.

Don't want to depress you too much, but I have had problems with a Thetford fridge since new in 2003 ! It was even changed over once as a warranty issue. Mine is one of the older type, without too much of the digital razzamatazz, so if they could not this one right, what chance with the more complicated ones....? It is still the only part of the van that I have had real ongoing problems with, and I am afraid that, in the future I would aim for a van that does not use this make of fridge.
