Thetford N145 Fridge Help from Read Caravans

S*ds law my Thetford fridge has failed whilst on electric and im away next week.

I have a N145 and getting a 1 spanner error which is either a ac power board or the ac element.

I cant get my van in for repair until July

I have changed the AC power board which was very easy but still have the error im trying to purchase a ac element, how easy is it to fit this?

I have enough slack to remove the fridge to get my hands in ,is it a case of removing the flue housing and pulling the old element out and to replace is visa versa?

when replacing the ac element it is simply a case of one out and one in replacing like for like. they fit in down the side of the flue exhaust

If you do have to move the fridge, even an inch make sure you test for gas leaks by means of pressure drop before the and after, as you will disturb the gas connection all be it a tiny amount.

Thanks all done,dead easy to do,disconnected gas and took fridge out reconnected and retested gas,no leaks.Saved a trip to the dealers in July (thats the earliest when they could fit me in)

glad to hear you sorted it. it is a relatively easy job. the bit i dont understand is why your dealer did not wan to help you out until july?

Yes i was a bit shocked too! they said they were fully booked until then and didnt offer a mobile service,did suggest a couple of mobile guys who might be able to help,but as it was warranty didnt want to pay for his time.

even when we are full, we would always try our very best to accommodate someone who bought a caravan from us with a problem. there is always something we can do to help even if it means fitting it in between jobs especially if the problem stops someone using the caravan. maybe its just us i dont know?
