I have a thetford K1520 SCK42XXX oven and when i lift the glass lid a fan goes on and blows air from under the buttons. Can anyone tell me if this is normal. I dont have the oven on simply lifting the glass lid. I have an Elddis Infinity 2019 van so if anyone has that kind of make have you noticed this. My dealer hasn’t a clue either ? Jay

I think it's standard on some ovens as mine has the fan - but it's linked to a thermostat and only comes on above a set temperature. It therefore seems to be a fault on yours and your dealer needs to talk with Thetford's technical support.

I agree. The fan is there to cool it after use and it sounds to be a fault, probably in the wiring or the thermostat.

Thank you so much for your fast reply Roger and Ray i will get on to that now. I just wanted to hear if it was normal so would be silly to chase down. Thank you Jackie.

The fan on ours comes on when the oven exceeds a given temperature. It then vents out of the back behind the hob. I don’t understand why yours might be controlled via the hob lid. It should operate with the lid open and shut. I also don’t understand why it should vent out of the control.

Very odd. I will await a reason.

Our oven vents out of the front over the bottom of the control knobs to keep them cool, the one at home does it as well.

Ours in the van vents from behind the hob but the oven at home is built in and vents forward. It comes on early and powerfully blows cold air onto the persons back working opposite.
