Thetford Toilet

We have a Coachman Pastiche 560/4 2010. We are having a problem with the toilet cassette chamber. The waste is not always going into the cassette but into the chamber. We have had the caravan back to retailer, who cannot find a fault and no leaks. So we went away again recently and the problem happened again. We think the seal is been disturbed when the toilet is in use causing some waste to go direct into the chamber and not into the cassette. We do not travel with the cassette full.
Has anybody else had this problem? We take the caravan in again next week, they are going to look at again.

Thanks

Lisa

We had a similar problem and garage replaced the seal - we won't know if this works until we take it away later this week. However if you are on holiday and not able to get assistance to rectify this problem try using toilet with the shutter open. I dont like it but it does work.

Lisa, not sure if same cause but we had same effect last year on our new Swift.
Ours was due to the vave opening mechanism not engaging properly with the cassette, this had effect of not opening valve fully and also when you removed cassette the sliding cover sometimes fell off.
The dealer cured this with a couple of plasic strips cemented on the floor of the cassette housing, raising cassette a few mm. Not had any problem since. Understood at the time it was a common problem with the new type cassette (with the pull out handle) so a bit surprised it has not been cured yet if it is the same problem.

This seems to be a common fault (there have been previous posts - including mine) - we had exactly the same problem last year on a new Lunar, the dealer called in Thetford who changed the whole system. It seems that sometimes the cassette doesnt push hard enough against the seals and bingo fluid escapes.
One good piece of advise already given is to have the 'flap' at least partially open when using, that way liquids pass straight into the cassette rather than 'pooling' against the seals.
Good luck - Jon
