THE GOOD NEWS

I feel both annoyed with myself and disappointed.

The Powrtouch fitter arrived and fitted the much talked-about, by me, motor mover tonight.

THE BAD NEWS

How is it you may ask? I don't know!!!! The caravan battery turned out to be cream-crackered. Don't laugh after all that I've posted about this.

I had had my suspicions about the battery but my 'van dealer checked it at the last service and said it was okay. I put it on charge yesterday just to be on the safeside. 12.6 volts showing this morning but by the time the P/T fitter had finished at 5.00pm it was down to 3 volts so obviously not holding its charge.

I hurried off to Halfords as one of the few places still open. An unbelievable £139.99 for a 110 amp leisure battery. NO THANKS.

Anybody got any recommendations for reliable makes and suppliers of 110 Amp leisure batteries at a more reasonable price please.

I'm a bit disappointed that I can't play with my new toy but at least with a new battery I should we should be all systems go by tomorrow night.

It means that I, also, missed out on the fitter giving a demo.

TIM Would have thought the fitter would have had a battery to try the instalation . even if he used your car battery just to show you it working .remember it doesn,t have to be a 110amp a 85 amp will do just won,t last as long, I move my van 1500KG with a 85amp battery but it only travels 25yds very hard to get up the side of my house.

cheers Duggie

Thanks Duggie

I have had a 110 amp battery previously and prefer the additional capacity for sites without hook-ups.

The fitter unfortunately couldn't have had a spare battery with him - he came by motorbike!!!

Oh well- hopefully it will soon be sorted.

HI! Tim don,t think the bike,s battery would be big enough (joke)but am sure it will work alright . never heard about a fitter on a bike but as long as it was done o.k.

cheers Duggie
