Tips for Selling your used Caravan??.

We are looking to replace our caravan for a new one in 2008 but thought it would be best to try and sell it privatley rather than trading it in through a dealer for a lower price.

Where is the best place to advertise it and what has worked for you?

When would be the best time to sell it?

Do people buy caravans in Sept??

Does selling it with the awning get you more or do you end up just giving it away to get the sale?

Everybody seems to say that Caravans sell best in the spring but by then our 2005 van will be three years old whereas if I could sell it at the end of the season this year its still only 2 years old.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hiya

We sold ours in February on ebay - that is where we bought it as well. You can take as many pictures as you like and list it for 10 days then local people who are interested seem to email you asking if they can come over and have a look. You can then deal with them direct and end your listing on ebay if you come to an agreement.

It's a great way of getting it seen by a huge amount of people - ours had something like 900 views before we finished the auction. We sold ours with the awning as it wasn't worth much on its own and people who are just starting off caravanning are more likely to bid for a caravan with some accessories - when we bought ours the people were giving up caravanning so we got all the things you needed to start caravanning so it was a big incentive to buy that one over a similar van with nothing.

Hi Litespeed

We recently sold our van, including 2 awnings and even delivered it free. We were prepared to do this as we really needed to change our van due to an impractical layout for our family.

I advertised it with Autotrader and E-bay.

I had loads of interest and sold it within 7 days of advertising through Autotrader.

Good luck!

Lolly x
